It's early days yet, but after having a browse on Wikipedia (as you do), I've decided that I absolutely have to share with you this quote, from the E3 announcement trailer.

It's spoken by an AI called Cortana, who is apparently experiencing "rampancy" (Bungie's term for an AI going insane) at the hands of a Flood intelligence called Gravemind. This is all from Halo 2, so I won't go into why's and what for's, but here's that quote:

I have defied gods and demons.
I am your shield; I am your sword.
I know you; your past, your future.
This is how the world ends.

It's a fantastic trailer. Course, Bungie haven't said what the quote means, but it quotes T.S. Eliot's poem The Hollow Man, which says:

This is how the world ends,
Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

What's also of note is that, whilst Halo was still an RTS (Real Time Strategy. See: Command & Conquer) game being made for Macs, Bungie sent emails to a fansite under the name of Cortana. The first one, which was sent in 1999, said this at the end:

Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is how the world ends.

But yeah, Cortana's mini-speech in the H3 Announcement trailer has got me wanting the game so badly. Roll on 2007
